Over the past several months, we have been in the process of researching new reading books for our LEADING by READING program and purchasing them with the help of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and the Bonnaroo Works Fund!  We have also been preparing the books for use by our volunteers, including developing questions related to each book that the volunteers can use for guided discussion with students during the reading sessions.

Our books focus on promoting literacy, positive behavior and/or social-emotional learning.  Volunteers read a book each week to a classroom of kindergarten students and ask a few comprehension/discussion questions after readng each book—all in just 15 minutes per session!  Students love to have our readers visit their classrooms!

We look forward to using both our new books and books from our existing collection of more than 100 titles with kindergarten students in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools as soon as it is feasible.  We thank our past and current funders for your help to bring our wonderful books and volunteers to young students!
